I've never met Ativan on a consistent basis was necessary, so I'm afraid I can not tell you much help. To sleep in the night calm enough, but when I want during the day to calm a panic attack imminent enough work for me.
Talk to your doctor about the dosage, or if you are in it "all day"
My experience with Ativan was generally good - much better than similar drugs.

They drink to be expected. I had gone a hangover "light" from time to time, but usually the following afternoon. Your dose may be too high.
